Emerging Technology (Online Scrapbooking)
1.) Online Scrapbooking
2.) Online scrapbooking is taking images and creating an online viewable and printable scrapbook. The creator can personalize each page with his or her own pictures and text. The creator may choose from templates or start from scratch when creating a page, choosing each item which is presented on each page. An online scrapbook can be put together without any costs by using free templates, or one may purchase backgrounds and stickers to use for the scrapbook pages. Online scrapbooking is a great way for individuals to put together a scrapbook full of pictures. It is especially useful for those who do not have the space or the workmanship that creating a regular paper scrapbook requires.
3.) Learning to online scrapbook at scrapblog.com was extremely easy. I had tried to use other websites to create an online scrapbook, but found it confusing and slow to upload pictures and projects. I highly recommend scrapblog.com. It is very user-friendly. I created a username, logged in, and then followed the steps. I experimented with the different applications and settings for each page. The site also has other types of projects such as invitations, thank you cards, and calendars.
4.) Below is a sample of online scrapbook I created of a vacation from last year.
5.) I recommend experimenting with the program. I found that was the easiest way to learn how to use the program. I also recommend beginning with a scrapbook design that is already put together. It has pages that are already designed which allows you to simply insert your pictures and text to complete the scrapbook page. Even if you decide to completely change the page, I felt beginning with a template provided a good starting point when designing a page.

Podcasting
1) Podcasting
2) Podcasting is broadcasting ones voice. The recording is stored so that it can be listened to by others. It is useful for instructional and educational purposes as well as for entertainment.
3) This is the first time I have used Podcasts, however I have listened to them before in other classes I have taken at IUPUI. Podcasting is a useful tool to hear lessons I have missed. For example, my church posts podcasts after each service, which allows me to stay up to date on the materials presented each week. Listening to podcasts is user friendly. I have experienced some problems trying to post a podcast.
4) Podcast is below.
5) I recommend podcasting. Podcasting makes mass communication more convenient for those involved.

About Me
My name is Lauren Alder. I am an elementary education major at IUPUI. In addition, I am working towards being certified to teach middle school math. I live with my parents, my puppy Sonny, and my two kittens, Lilly and Baby. I also have a big brother who doesn't live too far away. My faith is important to me and consider God a priority in my life. I am most happy when I am helping others and love when I am able to have a positive impact on someone. I enjoy creating and designing new things. I love drawing, scrapbooking, and putting together a variety of crafty projects.
I love spending time with kids, and especially enjoy watching them achieve their goals. Kids seem to have an extraordinary excitement towards new experiences, which I find inspiring. I have always enjoyed being around kids, but did not realize I wanted to be a teacher until this past summer. Last summer I babysat two boys and one girl. My experiences with the three of them made me realize not only that I love spending time with children, but that I also enjoy teaching them new skills. The kids were so excited and proud when they learned how to do something new, and I was just excited for them. I felt lucky to be a part of their growth in those skills that were so new and exciting to them. I am going to babysit all three of them again this summer and can hardly wait to see them!
When creating my blog, I first experimented with all of the different options as far as settings and layouts are concerned. I originally chose a picture in the header and chose colors to match for the text and background. I then did some searching online for a new layout design that was a little more colorful than what I previously created. I decided to change the layout by using an html code I found on PYZAM.com. I recommend searching the website for a layout. It was extremely easy to apply the layout to my blog. With all of the different options, I think most everyone could find at least one layout design they like. All in all, creating and setting up this new blog has been a wonderful experience!
